WALK THROUGH FOR WWII - NORMANDY A GAME PUBLISHED BY VALU-SOFT This is a standard "shoot-em-up" game where you are taking the character of an American Paratrooper from the 101st Airborne who has parachuted behind the German Lines on June 6, 1944,D-Day. There are 9 scenarios or levels and the game can be played in easy, medium, and hard settings. As the difficulty increases, the ammo you get is decreased and the enemy takes more hits to kill them. The number of enemy troops also increases. This walk through is based on the easy level. To get through the game you must save often, as you can lose health easily, and once your level goes to 0 - you're dead and have to start the level over unless you have saved. Always save after you have gotten your health back to above 90 or after you have gone through a complicated routine. You can regain health and ammo by picking up backpacks which you will find frequently. Backpacks do not always give the same amount of goodies or health. Don't pick up a backpack unless you need it; You can always go back and get it ! When fighting the enemy try for concealment of yourself so you won't get shot. Also shoot them from a distance wherever possible. They aren't that good of shots from a distance unless they have a machine gun. If you don't have a definite target, keep moving, one will show up quickly. Apparently the enemy troops are sometimes randomly placed and/or generated as they do appear in different places at different times - keeps you on your toes ! Use your M1 for most firefights, but the M3 is better for close-up work such as house to house fighting. Grenades are also handy in house to house. Use the bazooka for tanks and pill boxes, but watch your bazooka ammo. Sometimes you don't get much. I never did figure out why we have a machete and could see no use for a land mine. PART 1 - THE FIELDS OF FRANCE. The game starts with a video of you in an airplane approaching France and you jumping out. You land in a field armed with a pistol. Put it away and arm yourself with your M1. You will be shooting far away and need a rifle. Go towards the water and wade across to the "hump" or dam, then continue on hugging the wall or hedge to the right. When you approach the end, where you can see another parachute on the ground, use the bank for cover. You can survey where the enemy is by jumping up and looking over the bank. There are 3 Germans in the field directly ahead. Pop 'em off. There are an additional 3 German troops up the hill to the right. Pick them off from a distance. There is a glider which has crashed on the hillside and there is a backpack under the wing. Now turn around and head toward the parachute. There is a backpack a short way past it up the hill along with a German. There are more enemy to the right from the backpack over the knoll. Go over the knoll and bear right up the hill past the end of the hedges which are on your left, then go around the end of the hedges for more enemy. After disposing of these, proceed to the right, up the hill toward an allied troop's body. Just beyond it is a backpack. There are some large rocks in the area and also some large Germans. Take care of these fellows and head toward the brown road. When you start up the road this level is complete. PART 2 - MACHINE GUN EMPLACEMENTS A body of one of your troops is directly ahead with a backpack beside it. Head toward it and then bear to the right. You will be in a little gully or ravine. To your right is a building with a wall and an opening in the wall. There are 2 Germans there. Ahead on the left is a pill-box. Snipe out the 2 guys at the wall and bazooka the pill box. There may be another foot soldier beyond the pill-box. After taking care of all of this, go through the hole in the wall. Swing to the right and knock off the two Germans inside the building. Then enter the building, swing right and nail the guy up on the second floor. After that go up the stairs and look out through the hole in the wall. You will see a backpack atop some crates. If you need it, take a running jump through the hole to get it. Go outside, go to the left past the pill-box. Follow the road till you see a path to the right. Go down the path & meet Hans and Fritz. Shoot them before they shoot you. Beyond them, you will notice a grilled gate which blocks the way. To the right is the entry to a tunnel which contains a couple more jolly fellows. Take care of them and then go down the tunnel about halfway where there is a tunnel to the left. There is a backpack in there. Go to the end of the tunnel and there is a switch on the wall which opens the gate out in the ravine. Return to the ravine, go thru the gate and down to the end of the cut. There is a road running from left to right. To the right and across the road is a sandbag revetment, with 2 Germans therein. To the left and on this side of the road, there is a pill-box. Pick off the guys in the revetment with your M1. Then run across the road and take out the pill box with the bazooka. There may be a 3rd German beyond the pill-box. There is a backpack past the revetment in the road. Now turn around and advance down the road in the opposite direction. There is a tank to be taken out and some foot soldiers are in the area. Beyond the tank is a pill-box and some ground troops. Use your bazooka on the pill-box and your M1 on the troops. Take out the guard at the guard shanty and go on down the road. This will end this level. PART 3 - SNIPERVILLE Start with your M1. Go forward then right. Stop at the wall, turn left and venture toward the opening then back up. A German will come to see you. After taking him out, go forward and turn to the right half a turn. You will see a wall with an entry and a guard shooting at you. He also has a buddy. After dealing with them, go through the opening into the courtyard. Go in the door on your left. Inside there is a room to your left with a German. Beyond that room is a small room with a backpack. Go back out and up the stair. At almost the top of the stair, if you turn right there is a sniper two rooms over. You can take him out now or proceed up the stairs and shoot the German who is standing in an alcove ahead and slightly left. Then turn around and go to the right through the door to the next room. Toss a grenade into the next room to get rid of the officer who is against the wall ready to blow your brains out. This will also take care of the other fellow if you didn't shoot him from the stairs. (NOTE: When you toss a grenade, move away so there is a wall between it and you or you will become a casualty also !! ) Go into the room. There is a door at the rear of the room and in the next room is another sniper. Take him out. Then get the backpack in the left back corner of the room you are in as you probably need it. Go into the next room, but stay back from the windows. Take out your bazooka and knock out the tank that is outside. Now using your M1 approach the window and get rid of a sniper who is on a balcony to your right. He is hard to see until he starts to shoot. You can locate him from the muzzle flashes. There are 1 or 2 people on the ground which you should get, and then there is one to the left on a lower level next to the wall. He is very hard to see, but if you get him now, you will not have to contend with him later. After your little spree, go back through the rooms to the stair, then past the stair to the location where you shot the guy in the alcove. Turn to the right and you will see smoke coming from downstairs. Go to the right and there is a ramp down to where the fire is. At the foot of the ramp, turn to the left and shoot the German who is shooting at you through the smoke. Then go get the backpack which is on the other side of the fire by the body. Now turn back, go around the fire to a door, through the door, turn left, then right through another door. You are now in the courtyard where the tank is/was. Go forward past the building corner, turn left then left into a room where there is a German and a backpack. Leave the room, go across the bridge and around the back of the tank to the left, then thru the arch and turn left. There is a doorway to the right. Throw a grenade through the door, then back up and shoot the soldier who comes through the door. Go through the door and turn right. Hide behind the pile of dirt. Straight ahead is a machine gun nest. To the right, there is a building with a ground floor door and two Germans. To the left there is a two story building with snipers in the second floor windows. Go across the street to the left wall. Hug the wall and go to the pile of dirt which is ahead. You can shoot the two Germans in the doorway across the street, or lob a grenade at them. After you take care of that threat, use your bazooka to get the machine gun down the street. Then hug the wall and go down the street to a doorway on your left. Get in quick and go up the stairs as there is a guy across the street who is throwing grenades at you. You can pick him off from the stairway. There is also a German to the right in the room at the top of the stairs, who you will have to shoot. There is a backpack at the head of the stairs. Go towards the right side of the stairs to a doorway. Throw a grenade in the room. Go in and turn left immediately. The grenade may not have killed both Germans who are in the room. Get the backpack against the wall when they are dead. Leave and go back down stairs. Go to the left and shoot the occupant of a sandbag revetment which is on the far left of the building. Then go past the sandbags to a tunnel and complete this level. PART 3 - THE BIG GUNS Go forward. Then right around the corner of the hedgerow - Germans ahead on ground and atop the sides of the ravines. They will throw lots of grenades down at you. (Must have had a sale at the local army - navy store !! ). If you hear them clatter down near you, back or run away if you can. The guys atop the ravine are sometimes difficult to see, so don't waste too much time looking for them, just keep moving. They don't move. If you do spot one take him out. Keep going through the ravines and tunnels, eliminating the enemy as you go. Finally, you will come to a large open area with a sandbag revetment in the middle. Take out the occupants of the revetment and the guy at the top of the ravine. You have to pass this spot again and you donĄĄt need his interference. After taking care of the troops, go to the left. There is a cave with a German and a backpack. Leave the cave and go to the next ravine on the left. Work your way down this ravine until you see a pill-box ahead. Bazooka the box & the sandbag fort in front of it. There is a large opening to the left of the pill box and another pill box to the left of the opening. Run past this box & leave it for now. Run into the large opening © this is where the big gun is. Across the open area from the gun emplacement is a German atop the ravine throwing grenades. To the right and left of the gun room are storage rooms with Germans in them. There is also a backpack in one of the rooms. If you haven't already, go to the gun and disable it. You can take out the pill box with your M3 while standing in the opposite storeroom door. Leave this place and return to the large open area. Go left and take the next ravine to the left. Again work your way down this ravine to another gun emplacement. This is very similar to the other one. Work your magic on this one in a similar fashion. When you have disabled this gun, you have finished this level. PART 4 - HEDGEROWS. This is pretty straightforward - advance and shoot the enemy until you are at the objective. You begin facing a hedgerow which you can go around either end. There is a backpack on the ground at the left end, and Germans behind the hedgerow. Beyond this hedgerow is another with an opening at the center. There are Germans and a backpack straight ahead. The Germans are hard to see, so caution is necessary. Go on down and to the right to a river. Go in water moving to the right past the Glider Wing & then to the left for a bunch of Krauts. There is a backpack by the crashed glider on the hill. Go past the glider and across the dirt area then go left and then right. Shoot opposition and find a backpack. Go up the hill, fight as you go, and when you get to the top go right and get behind the rock which is in the corner. Look to the left and fire a couple of rounds at the head which you can barely see. This will cause some troops to come over the crest of the hill and you can pick them off from the safety of your hole. Go on over the crest and to the left and take out a sandbag revetment. There is a backpack in front of the sandbags. Go past the revetment, wade into the water and go to an opening in the hedgerow to your right. Get out your bazooka and take out the tank. Arm your M1 right away as there are ground troops that are ticked off about losing their tank. Go past the tank and take out the two sandbag revetments that lie beyond. Go between the revetments and end the level. PART 5 - GET THE TANKS This is the easiest level. - You are in a pill-box with two openings. You can do the whole scenario from the right opening or you can move back and forth. You look out across fields with a farm in the distance. There is a road to the left down which will come ground troops who will shoot at you. You can shoot them with your M1. To the far right there is a large rock. A pesky little guy will come running out from behind that rock and toss grenades at you and then run back. I think he is not alone, as I have shot him and he shows up again. To the mid right is a shell hole. A German will run down and get in this hole and shoot at you. While all this is going on, the 6 tanks appear from the right and attempt to cross from right to left to go up the left road. Your mission is to knock out those tanks. When they are dead the level is completed. PART 6 - BLOW UP THE RAIL CAR Start by picking off the two men at the sandbags and then blow up the tank. While in the water, go screen left, climb the bank and shoot the two guards by the little shanties. Now go down the road past the tank and shoot the guard in another guard shanty. Go thru the tunnel, shooting guard, then go to the right of the guard shanty for another guard. Search the buildings, taking out guards as you go. There is a backpack outside, straight ahead from the first building. You will come to two sandbag revetments and a tank in front of a large warehouse. Take them out and then the Germans in the warehouse. There is also a backpack in the warehouse. Shoot the guard in the shanty by the gate, then go to the left of the shanty , between it and the building. Go to the end of this passage and find a backpack. Return about halfway up this passage and there is a ladder on the side of the building. Go up the ladder and through the opening. Shoot the guard across the hall. Go room to room, cleaning out Germans. Go downstairs and out into the courtyard. Go left to the door in the big building. Go through building to a back door. Go through this door, turn right and then right again. Go down platform to the open box car door on your right. Enter and set your charge. End of level. PART 7 - CAPTURE BRIDGE Go forward then around corner and take out two enemy. Go further and see a German running to a gateway. Shoot him go thru gate and get backpack . Go into house, take out people and go upstairs. Get backpack. Go to window and knock out a tank down the street to the left. ( Not the one in front of the house !!). go back outside the way you came in and shoot the tank in the street from a distance. (If you are too close, you die.) Go right around tank. Get guy atop pier ahead. Go on around right side of second tank & shoot guy down the street. There is backpack beside the pier just ahead. Take out sandbag fortification and the tank which is to the right and between the buildings. There is another backpack on the other side of the pier. Go around the tank you just took out on the left. Hug the wall and go up the grade to shoot the next tank. There is a machine gun emplacement at the base of a big rock to your left down the hill. There are also some troops down the hill in the open and one guy atop the rock with a backpack. Advance forward and take out the halftrack on the bridge. If you have killed everything and are still alive, you don't need the backpack on the rock; just walk onto the bridge to end this level. PART 8 - THE FARM HOUSE This farm has more outbuildings than Carter has Liver Pills and there are Germans in most of them. Start by moving forward along the fence and to the corner of the first building. Across the street in the door of building 2 is a guard. Down the street in building 3 is another. Get them. Enter building 2 and take out Germans. There is a backpack in the far left front corner. Go from building 2 over to building 1 and get the Germans in that building. On the way, if the tank is visible between buildings 3 and 4, take it out. There is a backpack inside building 1 and one on the ground between buildings 1 and 4. More Germans may appear between buildings 3 and 4 - get them. Go between 3 and 4 and around tank to the left along wall of the farm house and then the repair shed. Turn to the left at the corner of the repair shed. Go ahead to the corner of the shed and take out the troops on top of the building around the corner. Then enter the repair shed and get the German and the backpack which are in there. Leave the shed, go ahead and turn to the left along the rear of the farm house. When you approach the far corner, several troops will appear for you to contend with. Go around the corner. There is a set of steps that looks inviting but ignore them. They are booby trapped. Keep against the wall of the greenhouse, go forward, turn the corner to the left and again left through the door. Take out a guard who appears and go into the house proper. Go through the door in the right wall where you will see two sloping planks which you can use to go upstairs and clean out the second floor. Return to the first floor and find the cellar stairs. Work your way through the rooms, killing Germans as you go until you end up in the last room. There is a switch on the left wall. Throw it and the prisoners will be released. This will end this level. PART 9 - ST. MERE EGLISE Go around the hedge and at the foot of the hill there are two men. Take 'em out and then go down to the foot of the hill, staying to the right. A tank will bust through a wall so bust him. There are two ways to go here. You can go into the building from where the tank came, and through the door at the rear of the room on the right. Take out a guard and go down the stairs. Or else go to the front of the tank and go through the door in the building to your left, where you will encounter two guards. Then go down the stairs which are to the left. Downstairs there are two rooms on one side and a large room with two doorways on the other. All rooms contain Germans. The large room contains two backpacks. One of the two rooms also has a stair which apparently leads up to a mezzanine. After you have eliminated all resistance in this basement, go up the first flight of stairs, turn left and go forward. When you do the ceiling will cave in and more Germans will come pouring out. After you take care of these, go up the ramp to the upper floor. There is a German in this room. The next room also has a man and the room beyond that. Now go down the stairway and outside. There is a man to the right in the open and a man in a doorway to the left. Once you have taken care of both, go through the door and through the room to the street. Go across the street to the wall, turn to the right, look down the street and you can spot a German in an alcove across the way. Use your M1 and eliminate him. Go around the corner of the building which you are against and take out the tank which is in the cross street. There are also some ground troops in this street and a backpack. When you have completed your tasks here, turn around and return to the first street. Go left - keep left against the wall to the next street corner. You will encounter additional troops and another tank around the corner in this next street. Go down the street past the tank. Turn to the left - get the guy across the street - turn left again and go into the Church Yard and end this level and end the game. Playing this game on the easy setting is fun and enjoyable. It doesn't frustrate you because it is too difficult as many of these type of games do. Of course, it does become more difficult on the other settings. Walk through compiled by jarvisd@1st.net
