KING’S GATE – LIGHT SEEDS

 

If you Resume Game from the Autosave you’ll be invited to start a conversation with Elika. Most of it is merely small talk but it means a nice relaxation to start your Light Seed hunt after that brutal battle with the Guardian.

Prince: Will that Corrupted thing come back here?
Elika: We’re safe. Ahriman can’t cast his shadow here now the land is healed.
Prince: So, Princess... ?
Elika: Will you stop calling me that?
Prince: That’s what you are isn’t it? A Princess?
Elika: My name is Elika.
Prince: All right. Sorry Princess Elika.
Elika: I didn’t catch your name.
Prince: That’s because I didn’t give it you. What’s the furthest you’ve ever been from here?
[NOTE: now we still don’t know his name... ]  
Elika: You were there.
Prince: The end of that Canyon? Where would you go if you could?
Elika: The ocean. What’s it like?
Prince: Well. In the desert you feel alone. You survive the desert, but you live the sea. I’d be careful, Princess, you see that. You might not come back. What’s it like being a Princess?
Elika: Tiring. Why do you wear that scarf?
Prince: It’s lucky.
Elika: I didn’t think you believed in that sort of thing?
Prince: I don’t... But maybe it believes in me.

First of all you already noticed this was not a room but an open courtyard. Look around. There is the gate you came from, a hole in the wall and second closed gate. Have a look through the opening.

You can spot numerous Light Seeds that all have to be collected. But first you need to open the gate. From here on we shall number Light Seed by “LS (number)”. LS2 is in front of the Gate and LS3 by the ring that opens the gate.

Simply pass a Light Seed and it will go to Elika’s Inventory with a short notice like 2/60, meaning you have 2 Light Seeds on a total of 60, the amount you need to earn your first Power. However there are only 45 to be found in King’s Gate.
Walk past LS2 and jump to the ring while collecting LS3. The Prince’s and Elika’s weight will slide the ring down causing the gate to rise (you’ve done that before at the Temple).

Walk to the end of the beam protruding from the gate while collecting LS4. Notice a Light Seed hanging by a red Plate on top of a high alcove around a gate. Obviously you can’t reach it... for now. Remember this Plate.
From the ceiling of the alcove a narrow column is hanging that doesn’t reach the floor. There is a Light Seed at its bottom. Above the gate you can spot some vines and below there are two Light Seeds by the gate’s wall.

Also look left and right from this point. Left you see another such red Plates with a Light Seed. The number of Light Seeds seems endless...

Jump to the column with Elika’s help.

Slide all the way down to collect LS5 and climb up again. Jump backwards to the vines.

A hint tells you to gripfall to the floor. Apparently during a gripfall you can move left and right by using LAS. You can also do it in a safer way. First move left down the vine to collect LS6. Then move up and right until you’re hanging above the other Light Seed. Gripfall from this spot while catching LS7.

Turn around and take LS8 in front of you. Notice and remember a protruding narrow beam. Then turn around and left of the gate is a whole bunch of poles, beams and Light Seeds.


Follow the Seeds

 

Jump to the narrow beam [LS9] and to the pole [LS10]. Next jumps: to the narrow beam [LS11] and the ledge [LS12].

Jump further from the next pole to the second [LS13] and to the green corner platform [LS14]. Climb up to the higher ledge. You can reach the next ledge by a long wall run with the ring.

Jump to the vertical narrow shaft, slide down to a semi-circular wall with a narrow ledge and shimmy all the way around to the next vertical narrow shaft where you slide down [LS15].
From this ledge you may continue left or right. Start going left first.
Walk along a short wooden ledge and jump to the lower platform. Turn around and notice a protruding beam that allows you to return to the higher platform. For now just follow straight and jump past two poles to a next platform.

From this platform you can see how to reach a Light Seed on the opposite wall.

Wall run using the ring to the narrow ledge. Shimmy right and slide from the vertical pole [LS16].

Gripfall to the large lower platform. Explore the entire platform. There is a wooden ledge leading to a pole and platform from where you can ring climb and grab a Light Seed. Left is a Light Seed on the wall that is not within reach on first sight. We’ll get back to that later.
On the other side you can ring wall to a platform. And left past the black track on the floor you see a purple vine that leads up. Let’s explore the vine first.

Jump to the vines, climb up and turn all the way right. Climb down and let go to the ledge. What you see now is one of the many tunnels that connect the Lands. This Tunnel leads to The Cauldron (in The Vale) and to the Temple . Look on the Map to see the connecting Tunnels. There is a junction to the Cauldron and the Temple . You don’t need to go there for now, so better backtrack to the previous platform by climbing around the vines. Remember this Tunnel Entrance though and how to get there from the gate in the alcove.

The Light Seed on the wall that was seemingly beyond reach can be collected with a dirty trick.

Wall run to the Seed. Collect LS17 and the Prince will drop down saved by Elika. But you’ll have the Light Seed in the pocket...

[NOTE: the proper way is to wall run to the Seed and then jump off the wall to the ledge by pressing green and LAS in between forward and left, but the result will be most likely the same].
Now stand on the wooden ledge and figure out how to get the Light Seed between the two wall rings on the other side.


Can you see how to get it?

 

Jump past the pole to the ledge and ring climb up to a higher ledge via the rings, meanwhile grabbing LS18.
You’ve been here before. Backtrack to the beam you just saw from where you can return to the higher ledge. You came down to this ledge by a vertical narrow shaft. This time look at the left wall. Jump to a next ledge via a narrow beam. Climb up to a vertical narrow shaft and vault up to the ledge. Have a good look of what to do next.

Jump past two narrow beams to the opposite ledge while grabbing LS19 on the second beam. On this platform you can jump to a protruding beam and vault up to a narrow ledge. Shimmy around the corner and prepare a wall run past the Light Seed to the narrow ledge on your right. You’ve got LS20.

Shimmy all the way around the many corners and pull up to a wooden ledge. Doesn’t this whole trip seem familiar to you? Yes, that was the way you entered the Fertile Ground in the previous Sublevel and this was the spot where you had the conversation with Elika concerning the Hunter!
Notice some Light Seeds on the gate's alcove and some broken columns hanging above the gap.

Reach the following ledge by the pole and the narrow beams. This is the ledge by the gate from where you started this entire side trip.
Continue straightforward. Jump/run up to the narrow wall.

There are lots of Light Seeds to grab on the path in front of you, but first turn around and notice a Light Seed by the vine on the gate’s alcove. Reach this vine with Elika’s help, climb up and take LS21.

Climb all the way up and press green to jump off the vines and automatically do a wall run to a pole. Turn around and jump to a T-shaped narrow beam [LS22].  This is one floor higher than the narrow wall you were just standing on.

Jump to the vine and climb down. Let go to the ledge and jump/run up the narrow wall again. Jump from two poles to a narrow beam [LS23] and to the next pole. Then ask Elika’s help to jump to the vine.

Climb up and grab LS24. Now turn around and notice another Light seed by a pole. Jump to it from a narrow beam and a pole and collect LS25. Turn around and jump back to the ledge.
[NOTE: This sequence from the lower ledge to this higher ledge can also be played in a different way, but this is just one example. Later on you’ll be returning here anyway].

Wall run up to LS26 on the left wall. Jump to the pole and on to the sloping platform. Down the slope jump to the wall and wall run past LS27. Jump off to the wall on your right, continue the wall run and jump off to a pole.

There is a black fire of evil on the opposite ledge predicting nothing good.
Jump to the ledge and meet one of Ahriman’s Soldiers. Get him down with a couple of Combos.

Prince: How many of these things are there?

Turn around and notice a higher ledge on the right side of the pole you just jumped from. Jump up and wall run up to LS28.

Jump to a sloping platform and at the end jump to the higher ledge. Pull up to the ledge.

Jump with Elika’s help to the next slope [LS29]. At the end of the slide jump to the second slope. At the end of this slide jump to the banister of a ledge higher up.

Climb over and observe the next scenery on your left.

Look at the wall on your right. Return to the vine on the gate’s alcove along the beams and poles you’ve been before. Use Elika’s help to jump to the third pole though.
Drop from the vines to the gate’s ledge and turn left. Jump to the hanging column from the protruding beam you had to remember. Jump backwards to the green platform.

Turn right and take LS30. Jump to the hanging column with Elika’s help and climb up passing LS31. Jump backwards to the higher ledge.

Jump to the hanging column around the corner and climb up to the roof. Roof run for LS32 on your right and the Prince will jump back to the previous ledge.
Jump back to the column and climb up again. This time turn your back towards the ring on your left and roofrun to the ring [LS33]. Press red to extend your roofrun and land on the opposite ledge.

This must look familiar again since you were here before on your way to the Fertile Ground. Turn around the corner and wall run to the narrow wall. Jump to the next ledge. Jump to the hanging column and climb up [LS34].

Jump backwards to the next ledge and wall run along the curved wall to the vines. At the end climb up the vines [LS35] and vault up to the Entrance of the Fertile Ground. The door is open again now.

Return to the end of the protruding beam of the gate and jump to the hanging column with Elika’s help like you’ve done in the beginning. Climb to the top, turn your back toward the ledge on the left and jump backwards with Elika’s help.

Wall run to pick up the Light Seed by the red Plate [LS36] and slightly past the Plate gripfall to the vines below.

Shimmy right and wall run to your right until you are near the hanging column and jump backwards to it. Turn your back towards the second column.

Jump backwards to the column grabbing LS37. Notice a vine with two Light Seeds.

Jump backwards to the vines and climb down [LS38-39].
Gripfall down.

Our business in the Ruined Citadel is finished now. It seems that you’ve collected all the accessible Light Seeds for the time being. You can collect the few remaining ones when you return with a Power of Elika.
You’ve already guessed that the red Plates you saw are Power Plates that need to be activated. Since you found out from the Map that each Power has its own color, the Power needed here is Step of Ormazd, colored red.

Open the Map and look at your achievement. It says the Status is Healed and you’ve got 39/45 Light Seeds.

Now select a new destination: The Vale, The Cauldron, which is the next and nearest accessible Land. Press green to set and / to exit the Map.

Press yellow and Elika will mumble some hocus-pocus and throw a light ball in the direction you’ll have to go.

The flair goes in the direction of the Tunnel you just saw. Return to the Entrance of the Tunnel right behind the purple vines, and read the continuation in Level 4: The Vale, The Cauldron.

Look at your Map

 

The Prince and Elika are beamed to the Fertile Ground. A conversation will now start where they are digging in each other’s past. This may be interesting to follow.


You don’t act like a Princess

 

Elika: How do Princesses act?
Prince: All the money, none of the sense, don’t know which end of a Camel eat and which end.
Elika: I know which end of a Camel does what.
Prince: Princess, a real Princess.
Elika: What about you? How are you?
Prince: There’s not a lot to tell. So, have you -
Elika: Aa-a, I’m not saying anything until you share something about you. So... why were you in the desert with a Donkey loaded with gold?
Prince: I was on my way home.
Elika: From where?
Prince: It’s not here you come from, it’s where you’re going that matters. Your turn to tell me something.
Elika: You’ve still not said where you got the gold.
Prince: I found it.
Elika: You found it. You’re a thief.
Prince: I’m an adventurer.
Elika: You’re a thief.
Prince: I reclaim abandoned property. I was a few days from hare, I’d heard rumors of a tomb. A little bit of digging, a small amount of hiding and... forget one Donkey, I could’ve loaded twenty, thirty... if those Guards hadn’t turned up. Still, I got away with enough to keep life pleasurable for at least a few more years.
Elika: You robbed the dead?
Prince: It’s a lot easier than robbing the living. Why am I being punished? Sure, I took a little gold, but the owner had been dead for three hundred years. It’s not like he was going to do anything with it.
Elika: Who’s out there waiting for you?
Prince: The world full of people.
Elika: Isn’t there one you’ve got close to?
Prince: Trust yourself and you don’t need to.
Elika: Trusting your own judgment can get lonely.
Prince: You rely on someone else they’ll just let you down.
Elika: You haven’t let me down.
Prince: You haven’t known me long enough.
Elika: Tell me about your family.
Prince: Don’t have a family.
Elika: Well, you came from somewhere.
Prince: Yes, and I’ going somewhere else.

Now the Prince is inviting Elika to a Game. One of these childish Games where you have to guess a word from an initial. This Game takes a long time and is totally irrelevant to the Walkthrough so I will skip it when it starts boring.

Prince: Want to play a Game? Come on it’ll be fun.
Elika: The world’s about to end and you want to play a Game?
Prince: Might as well die happy.
Elika: What sort of a Game is this?
Prince: Well, I see something and you have to guess what it is.
Elika: How can I guess that? This is a stupid Game.

It may not be that stupid though because the Prince is always referring to things in this world, but it is pretty boring though. When the Prince’s Game is over we’re back in business: collecting the remaining Light Seeds here at the King’s Gate.

Prince: Do we need to pick up some more of these “Light Seeds”?
Elika: They will help us.

You first need to reach the first accessible red Power Plate and you’ve done that before in this Sublevel.
Jump from the gate’s protruding beam to the hanging column with Elika’s help and turn your back towards the left ledge. Jump backwards to the ledge and wall run to the Plate.
This time press yellow to activate the Plate.
You’ll blast off to the Power plate above the gate with the Light Seed [LS61].

Press yellow and get off to the opposite wall with two rings. Wall run and press red when touching a ring [LS62-63] until you reach the next Power Plate [LS64].

Press yellow to be catapulted to an opposite ledge.

Open your Map and notice that you’ve gathered 43/45 Lights Seeds at the Kings' Gate. That means 2 are still missing.

Go around from this ledge and find out that the two remaining Light Seeds are in an alcove in a wall by the ledge in front of the double slope to the banister. Turn right and jump up into the alcove to get them.

Open the Map again and you will now have all 45/45 Light Seeds.


King’s Gate has finished

 

Since King’s Gate and The Cauldron are both healed and there is  a Tunnel connecting both one may wonder if this Tunnel would not be healed either? Let’s find out and return to the vines at the Entrance of the Tunnel.
And yes, everything looks fresh again, even the vines look green.

Climb around the vines and look into the Tunnel: it is full of Light Seeds!
